Families of engaged couple killed in crash sue driver, trucking company involved in crash
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) The family of a Bakersfield couple killed in a crash last summer, just weeks before their scheduled wedding, is now taking legal action.
33-year-old Mathew Thomas Woodall and 31-year-old Nicolett Elaine Conley were engaged to be married on July 27, 2017.
Woodall and Conley were killed July 7 on Highway 58 when a semi truck, driven by Jose Herrera, slammed into the back of the 2010 Toyota Camry they were riding in.
The attorney of both families says a lawsuit was filed Feb. 22.
The families are suing Herrera and the trucking company the semi belonged to. The case remains under review with the San Bernardino district attorney’s office.
A trial setting hearing is set for August.
